Chalchiuhtlicue .. by LadyCat17 Chalchiuhtlicue .. by LadyCat17
Yeah, one o' the very very few Chalchiuhticue paintings/drawings/watever I make kinda "detailed" (ya see I'm lazy, or stupid yet).

Chalchiuhtlicue: prehispanic water Goddess, Tlaloc's wife, she reign on the seas, lakes and rivers. Hurr hurr. Her name means something like "the one with the precious jade skirt". And remember jade was in prehispanic times, a really valuable thing. Only for teh elite and gods.

This is b-day present for my dear friend :iconvedroid:. Welcome to the ol' walkin' raisins 23 year ol' club ;p

Data about this painting.... Well the weird simbol on the upper part it's a pot with water emerging from it. It appears in the Fejérváry-Mayer codex, where its'a symbol between Tlaloc and Chalchiuhtlicue. Eh the so-called sculptures in the sides are based on the designs o' Tlaloc pots. :D

:) Yes, watercolor on special illustration cardboard.

the hair is very beautiful, it resembles (or to me it does) a river. and I like the ornament in her nose, I see you researched her appearance because that is her most emblematic feature, good job
